How to Beat the Bloat with Warm Lemon and Cayenne Pepper Water Without Messing Up Your Hormones

Last week I was on a consultation call and my potential client asked me about warm lemon and cayenne pepper water for detoxing and boosting metabolism. The conversation came up during the consultation call because she’d heard or read in one of my articles that I drink warm lemon water and cayenne pepper every morning.
Our conversation inspired me to do this post on How to Beat the Bloat with Warm Lemon and Cayenne Pepper Water Without Messing Up Your Hormones.
I had absolutely no idea that warm lemon water and cayenne pepper was a major master cleanse or detox. I’m West African and I sprinkle a dash of hot cayenne pepper in and on everything, even on my pineapples. My toddler licks it while I’m cooking. We are hardwired to eat cayenne pepper. It’s like cinnamon.
I’ve been doing the whole warm lemon water thing since I was probably in my mother’s womb. Warm water or tea makes me happy. It always has. As for the warm lemon water and cayenne pepper combination, I started doing that 10 years ago after I found out I had a redundant colon.
If you’ve read my story, you know I was blocked…really blocked and having bowel movements only about twice a month. After a really bad colonoscopy experience, one of the nurses recommended that I add a tiny dash of cayenne pepper to my daily warm lemon water morning routine.
And yes, I was pretty clueless about it being part of a masters cleanser or detox or weight loss experience. If you’ve read anything on this blog or website, you know I’m all about real nourishing, nutrient dense foods to maintain a healthy weight, and yes, I’m for losing unwanted excess weight – without dieting or deprivation.
And I also recognize that we all have the power to freely choose what serves us. So, my invitation to you is to think about the effects of trendy diets/cleanses and check with your doctor or physician to make sure your body and hormones can handle it before you start.
Side Note: Just to be crystal clear, this is NOT a lemon pepper cleanse, or the cayenne pepper maple syrup lemon juice cleanse, or the master cleanse, or the master cleansing or cayenne pepper liquid diet or the liquid diet with cayenne pepper and lemon juice. It really is just warm water in the morning.
While the master cleanser and other trends are tempting and may seem easier than making a lifestyle change, consider staying clear of weight loss supplements and other trendy (liquid) diets that create worse issues for your health and body.
Sticking with real food is one option. Depriving yourself of nourishment or cutting out large groups of food to exist solely on a liquid diet of warm lemon juice and cayenne pepper or any voluntary liquid diet for long periods of time could do more drastic harm than any good, especially for your hormones.
Listen up beautiful female entrepreneur, you’ve got a lot on your life and business plate. And you’re struggling with weight loss and hormonal imbalance symptoms. Don’t push food away. Don’t be afraid to eat real food.
Eating real and nutrient dense foods for a healthy and well-balanced diet is key. You’ll conquer cravings, calm down those pesky hormones, and master how to keep unwanted weight off without even trying. And that’s the real masters cleanse – Ease.
The Real Benefits of Warm Lemon and Cayenne Pepper Water – Glow from the Inside Out
Obviously, there are great benefits to just drinking warm water by itself every morning. Add in some lemons and you’ve got a liver’s best friend. Cayenne pepper apparently boosts the metabolism and helps with digestion, which is a huge deal. When choosing your cayenne pepper, consider one that is Non-Irradiated and Non-ETO.
The gut is the hub of everything. Drinking warm lemon water with cayenne pepper is a great way to beat the bloat and create a flatter, happier tummy.
Personally, I notice that it helps me a lot with my digestive issues, including gas, bloating and painful cramps. I drink a large 16 oz cup of warm water with 4 lemon slices and a tiny dash of cayenne pepper every morning. Enough for me to feel warm and fuzzy, but not enough to make me sneeze.
Warm lemon water every morning with or without the cayenne pepper is like creating your youthful flow from the inside out. It comes straight from your healthy gut. It is a really gentle way of aiding your digestion and getting rid of belly bloat, decreasing inflammation and enjoying clearer skin. I can see why some women would binge on just warm lemon water and cayenne pepper for 10 or 14 days. I still don’t recommend it. Yes, you may lose the weight, but it could also mess the F out of your hormones.
If you’re considering adding warm lemon water to your lifestyle, you’ll reap many benefits, especially if you’re dealing with Chronic Inflammation. It saved me from bloating and acid reflux (BUT PLEASE check with your doctor or physician first. I’m speaking only from my personal experience).
Here’s the real lemon deal.
To lose weight, look fabulous, and feel amazing, we need to eat the “right foods.” (Yes, you need to eat more calories in order to lose weight). But finding the “right” more is key. Your body needs food for fuel, but it also needs that food to be the right fuel for your unique body.
In this part of my work, I focus on helping women distinguish between the foods that either serve as fuel for the body or create inflammation in the body. When food inflames the body, you may experience hormonal imbalance issues, bloating, acid reflux, headaches, sinus issues, weight gain, arthritis, and skin problems, to name a few.
Believe me, I’ve been there. Chronic inflammation is no walk in the park, especially when you’re juggling your business, client needs, family and everything else.
Here is are 2 ways I use lemon to power up clients’ digestion – with lemon and cayenne OR with apple cider vinegar. Both beat the bloat and create and support a flatter, happier tummy. Lemon is so easy because it helps make the body’s PH more alkaline.
How to Make Warm Lemon and Cayenne Pepper Water – The Glow from the Gut Drink
You can try Warm Lemon and Cayenne Pepper Water OR Lemon and Warm Lemon and Apple Cider Vinegar Water (apple cider vinegar as detox)
The Morning Lemon Drink
When you wake up in the morning, mix 16 oz of warm or room temperature water with the juice from 1 lemon (I use lemon slices); Add in 1 Tablespoon of Bragg’s Raw Apple Cider Vinegar; Add in a Pinch of Cinnamon or 1 Teaspoon of Raw Honey.
Side note: Even though you can use apple cider vinegar as detox, not everyone can tolerate this well. So, if this makes you nauseous, queasy or dizzy, please don’t include the apple cider vinegar. You’ll feel just as refreshed with the warm water and lemon.
OR
Mix 16 oz of warm Lemon Water and a Pinch of Cayenne Pepper.
The Power of Water – Maintain a Naturally Healthy Weight
I follow my warm lemon water with cayenne pepper with a 16oz glass of room temperature water about 30 minutes later and then eat breakfast another 30 minutes later.
The warm water with lemon thing is just another way to jazz up your water intake when you’re incrementally adding water to your lifestyle. Staying well hydrated supports the body to lose excess weight naturally (and maintain your natural healthy weight). Water can be a healthy alternative to other beverages that contain processed sugar. Drink up, ladies!
Water reduces cravings, balances hormones, reduces inflammation, balances blood sugar, flushes out toxins, and slows down signs of aging. Yes, it does all of the things the pills, lotions and diets promise too.
Experts say that it’s best to drink half your body weight in ounces every day. If you’re not a ‘water person,’ a few natural, simple, and clean flavors you can add include:
Fresh lemon juice
Fresh lemon slices
Fresh ginger slices
Fresh mint leaves
Fresh cucumber slices
Fresh slices of pineapple
Fresh basil or cilantro
Consider water your new pick me up and try some warm water without the lemon or cayenne pepper or apple cider vinegar, about an hour before bedtime.
I’ve also tried this an alkalizing chlorophyll l drink in the evenings (I still prefer just plain warm water and choose to chew my chlorophyll tablets during lunch).
Pre-Bedtime Alkalizing Drink
Mix 1 Tablespoon of chlorophyll in 12 ounces of water; Add Juice from 1 Lemon.
Chlorophyll is an amazing cleanser, blood nourisher, detoxifier, and a healing superfood. It builds red blood cells, removes heavy metals from the body, eliminates bad breath, and improves digestion. It is also a prebiotic that creates the space for good bacteria to thrive in your belly.
Amazing, right? You can find it in rich leafy greens like kale, spinach, or parsley. Consider adding more of these to your healthy clean eating lifestyle.
